Inversion Traction Tables

We have been using Teeter “Inversion Tables” for more than a year now, and have had extremely good results.

We’re not evangelistic about everyone using them, however, if the Low back pain profile matches - for example:

  1. Pain on sitting for long periods
  2. Pain on bending forwards
  3. True Sciatica
  4. Tingling/Numbness in the legs/feet
  5. (And a number of other signs that will include or exclude you from using one of these tables)

What we find is that (in particular) the pain from a disc bulge or prolapse can almost immediately be resolved by using one of these inversion tables. It’s awesome. There is, however - a downside:

That downside is: Because you’re so used to having pain, when we take the pain away like this, your body can’t believe it. Then, we stand you up, and your pain comes back (almost as fast as it went away), although - with one difference:

It could make your back pain feel worse. This is because you have (usually for the first time in a long time) experienced what it is like with no pain, and your brain’s “pain scale” has been “reset”.

In other words, having just experienced no pain, the pain you have been normally feeling can actually “feel” worse.

The cure for that?

If you’ve got back pain, you absolutely MUST do the following:

  1. Make sure that traction is right for you.
  2. If it is, have the amount of traction you need customised to your needs,
  3. Identify any things in your lifestyle that could re-injure your back on a daily basis (even seemingly simple, small, “irrelevant” things can have an effect)
  4. Take steps to prevent the items in 3) above from occuring
  5. Increase your core muscle strength
  6. Stretch associated/related muscle groups, and
  7. See an Osteopath to help relieve tension in other areas and guide you to better function

Anyway, enough said about that.

So, which table to buy? Well, if you head on over to ebay, you’ll see a variety of cheap versions (check them out by clicking on an image from ebay below).

What you won’t see (very often) is good quality inversion tables. From what we’ve seen around in the past seven years, the best quality is (without a doubt) the tables by “Teeter Hangups”. I think the one major thing that separates these guys from everyone else is that it’s the only table of it’s kind with medical equipment testing standard authentication.

They just last longer, and are certified to do so (with a 5 year guarantee).

Here’s a brief video:

You can make up your own mind - but call us first before doing so (if you’re local) as you can test them out for free (to see if they’re what you need).
